Art Historian by Training

I Excel at Shaping Content in the Humanities

Before transitioning to editorial services, I worked as an art historian and museum curator in different capacities for over twenty years. My content specialization is American art. I hold a doctorate in American art before 1945, with a minor in twentieth-century African American art. I have experience interpreting a wide range of media, including paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, decorative arts, textiles, historical artifacts, material culture, and archival collections.

My educational background and my positions at a variety of cultural institutions, including the curatorial departments of academic, local, and nationally recognized museums, give me expertise in art historical subject matter from many time periods and geographic locations. I also work proficiently on content in the fields of history, American studies, and the public humanities.

I bring this broad and deep knowledge to my clients’ projects. I copyedit and proofread long-form undertakings, such as articles, theses, dissertations, and book-length manuscripts. I am also versed at editing and proofing the varied written materials produced by museums. These include wall text, object labels, brochures, catalogues, marketing materials, and website content.

Examples of My Work

Qualities that make me a first-rate editor and writer:

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Professional studies coursework in copyediting
  • Strong network of academic and museum professionals
  • Intellectual curiosity about all subjects and topics in the humanities

My clients value my dependability, integrity, gentle manner, and good-natured sense of humor. The authors I work with trust me with their writing, knowing I will help them hone their prose while maintaining their voice and style. The museums that hire me receive back high-quality content that engages their audiences.
