Art Historian by Training
I Excel at Shaping Content in the Humanities
Before transitioning to editorial services, I worked as an art historian and museum curator in different capacities for over twenty years. My content specialization is American art. I hold a doctorate in American art before 1945, with a minor in twentieth-century African American art. I have experience interpreting a wide range of media, including paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, decorative arts, textiles, historical artifacts, material culture, and archival collections.
My educational background and my positions at a variety of cultural institutions, including the curatorial departments of academic, local, and nationally recognized museums, give me expertise in art historical subject matter from many time periods and geographic locations. I also work proficiently on content in the fields of history, American studies, and the public humanities.
I bring this broad and deep knowledge to my clients’ projects. I copyedit and proofread long-form undertakings, such as articles, dissertations, and book-length manuscripts. I am versed at researching, writing, copyediting, and proofreading the varied written materials produced by museums. These include wall text, object labels, brochures, catalogues, newsletters, and website content. I also work with museums and artists to write grant proposals that seek funding from local and regional foundations and governmental agencies.
